Why is it Only Expectable for Black People to say “Nigga”?

Just like cultures and traditions, words change over time too. The controversy of the word “nigga” has created in my opinion, an unnecessary tension. The word nigga originates from the word nigger; a term used by other races to identify African Americans. Some argue that the use and meaning of the word “nigga” is heavily dependent on the context, situation and tone. Others disagree and believe that there is no difference between nigga and nigger, and take offense. Author H.Lewis Smith “believes that replacing the ‘er’ with an ‘a’  changes nothing but the pronunciation…Nigger was and still is a word of disrespect.” (Phil Middleton and David Pilgrim, “Nigger (the word), a brief history!.” African American Registry. 2001. Retrieved 03-14-2007.) Although I say the word often in my everyday speech, I do believe that it is wrong to use the word regardless. My problem is that majority of the African American society gets rallied up about races outside of ours, more so the white people about using the word. Why? Ok yes, the term was created by the white society, but what justifies the fact that we still use a word that was used to describe us? Nigga is used more among the younger members of all racial backgrounds. If we (African Americans) stop using the term to identify our (“brotha’s, sistah’s, homeboy’s and homegirl’s) then maybe people wouldn’t feel so freely about using the term. “However, the entire human race must recognize that this term is used, and in an even much larger abundance than it was decades ago to dehumanize black people in America.” (Aziz, Nicolas. “Hip-Hop and the Globalization of Nigga.” Huffington Post 8 Sep. 2013) I truly believe that it is ignorance amongst everyone and that we should stop throwing the term around.
